Frequently Asked Questions

At Dominion Pest Control LLC., we always strive to make it easy for you to find all the information you are searching for.

We have tried our best to gather a list of the most common questions that we have heard during our many years in the pest control industry.

If you do not find the answer to your question below, please feel free to reach out to us at 919-619-5569 or fill out a contact form.

  • Is it safe for my children/pets?
We also have young children and pets so we understand your concerns. At Dominion Pest Control LLC., we want you to know that your family's safety is always our top priority. According to the labels on all of our liquid products: children and pets may enter treated areas after the product is completely dry (usually 10-15 minutes). With that being said, all our interior treatments are limited to specific target areas that are typically out of reach of children and pets and we are happy to explain and adjust our treatment process to accommodate your comfort levels.
  • Is it safe for me to be home during the treatment?
If we determine you need to vacate your home during a treatment we will inform you prior to our arrival. For a typical interior treatment you do not need to leave your home. All the products we use on the inside are all EPA approved and according to their labels: are completely safe once dry. It is recommended to remove children and pets from the treatment areas until the product is dry (usually 10-15 minutes). We will never use any harsh smelling products or anything that will leave behind visible residue or stains.
  • Do you need to come inside?
At Dominion Pest Control LLC., we want to make our treatment process as safe as possible. We aim to follow our 'interior - liquid last' approach and prefer to keep all treatments on the exterior only as much as possible to reduce any risk of exposure to you or your family. We only need to come inside if we determine an interior treatment is absolutely necessary or if you specifically request an interior treatment.
  • What do I need to do to prepare?
If any specific preparation must be done, we will inform you prior to our visit. Generally, the only preparation that must be done is simply giving us access to the full exterior of your home, i.e.: removing all objects away from the foundation and keeping all vegetation trimmed back 2-3 feet from the structure as well as making sure all gates are unlocked and accessible. Cleaning up any and all dog poop in the backyard is also much appreciated :).
  • How often do you come out?
We perform all our subscription maintenance services on a bi-monthly basis (every 2 months/6 treatments a year). We prefer more frequent services as opposed to the traditional 90 day or "quarterly" method because most products sold on the market today are only designed to last up to 90 days, but realistically, may degrade quicker than anticipated. When you factor in weather conditions such as heat from the sun and rain it is believed the product will begin to be ineffective prior to the 90 day period. Our goal is to make sure your home is protected year round. Additionally, if you ever have any issues between your regularly scheduled services, we will come out and address any concerns at no extra cost.
  • How long does it take to work?
After your initial treatment you may begin to see an increase in pests for a short period of time. Don't worry, this is normal. Think of it as the beginning of the eviction process. After a few days you will begin to notice a significant decrease in the presence of pests as well as several that are dead and dying. We typically recommend allowing 10-14 days for the product to fully take effect. If you have any live and active pests inside after this period, we may need to perform an additional treatment to fully solve the issue.
  • Am I guaranteed a pest-free home?
Despite what some may try to sell you: pest control is never 100% guaranteed. It is important to have a realistic approach when it comes to pest control. Our goal is to reduce the amount of pests in and around your home as much as possible. We will reduce your pests to the point that you should rarely see them, if at all. We not only believe we are the best and most thorough in the business, but we also use the highest quality products on the market. We will never cut corners. We will get the job done right the first time, but if you ever have any issues between your regularly scheduled maintenance services we will come out to address any concerns at no extra cost.
  • Do you have shoe covers?
We understand you work hard to keep a clean and tidy home. Before entering your home, we will always ask if you would like us to apply covers to our boots. All our boot covers are clean and tear-free to ensure we don't track any dirt, mud or debris into your home.
  • I have a clean house - why do I have bugs?
Although keeping your home clean and clutter-free helps to reduce pests, it is not guaranteed to keep your home pest-free. It’s important to know that the presence of various pests is very common in our area, and it often has nothing to do with your home's cleanliness, so you have nothing to be embarrassed about. Whether you decide to hire us or do-it-yourself, in North Carolina, pest control is a must!
  • Will you knock down my spider webs?
At Dominion Pest Control LLC., spider web removal is not offered during your regularly scheduled maintenance treatments. HERE'S WHY: While it seems most companies offer spider web removal, the reason we don't is because we would rather spend that time giving you a more thorough treatment. The typical exterior treatment can take anywhere from 15-30 minutes depending on the size of your home. If we spend 50-75% of that time removing spider webs than we can't focus 100% of our time on the actual treatment. Doesn't that make sense? We prefer to spend the entire 15-30 minutes (if not longer!) giving you the most detailed treatment we possibly can. This way, in the long run, you won't have spider webs to begin with! While other companies focus on giving you short term gimmicks with an appearance of cleaning your house, alongside a mediocre treatment, we are focusing on long term results that will actually solve the root cause of the problem. We have found that many of our new customers complain about their experiences with previous companies because all their spider webs would come back within days of their service, proving the current industry standard is not effective. Spending 50% of our time cleaning your house and 50% of our time killing your bugs means we are not spending 100% of our time and effort doing what you pay us to do: kill your bugs. At Dominion Pest Control LLC., we are not in the cleaning your house business, we are in the killing your bugs business! "Be all in or get all out, there is no halfway"
